Discomfort should occur in the first few days, improving each day thereafter. Bruising, swelling, numbness, and tightness and tenderness of skin for 10-14 days or longer. Skin may feel dry and rough for several months.
The operation consists in three phases. The beginning phase is the anesthesia, your operation will be performed in general anesthesia. The second phase is incision. Traditional facelift incision often begins in the hairline at the temples, continues around the ear and ends in the lower scalp. Fat may be sculpted or redistributed from the face, jowls and neck and underlying tissue is repositioned, commonly the deeper layers of the face and the muscles are also lifted. Skin is redraped over the uplifted contours and excess skin is trimmed away.
An alternative to a traditional facelift uses shorter incisions at the temples, continuing around the ear. "Mini-lifts" are usually reserved for patients with less skin relaxation, as the results are less rejuvenating than a full facelift.
Last phase is closing incisions. The incisions will be closed with sutures that may dissolve or may need to be removed after a few days. Once healed, the incision lines from a facelift are well concealed within the hairline and in the natural contours of the face and ear.
A preliminary consultation will be done from your pictures and medical background. Then upon request we can organise an online consultation for you before you arrive. Once you are here you will have your consultation with the doctor. During your consultation you can get answers to all your questions. We are never in a hurry and listen to all your questions and doubts.
During your gynecomastia surgery recovery period, dressings or bandages will be applied to your incisions and an elastic bandage or support garment may be used to minimalize swelling and support your new chest contour as it heals after surgery.
A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood or fluid that may collect.
A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that aims to tighten and lift the skin on the face and neck, to reduce the visible signs of aging.
A facelift can help to reduce sagging skin, wrinkles, and fine lines on the face and neck, giving a more youthful and refreshed appearance. It can also improve the contours of the face and neck.
A good candidate for a facelift are generally in good health, have realistic expectations for the results of the surgery, and have visible signs of aging on the face and neck, such as sagging skin, wrinkles, and loss of facial volume.
Facelift surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia, and involves making incisions around the ears and along the hairline. The skin is then lifted, and the underlying muscles and tissues are tightened. Excess skin is trimmed away, and the incisions are closed with sutures or staples.
Recovery time can vary depending on the extent of the surgery, but patients can generally expect to experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort for several days after the procedure. Most patients are able to return to work and normal activities within two to three weeks.
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks associated with facelift surgery, such as bleeding, infection, scarring, nerve damage, and poor healing. However, these risks can be minimized by choosing a qualified and experienced surgeon and following all pre- and post-operative instructions carefully.
The results of a facelift surgery can last for several years, but will eventually begin to diminish as the natural aging process continues. However, the results can be maintained with good skincare and healthy lifestyle habits, such as avoiding smoking and excessive sun exposure.
